All leaders and helpers – training day and inductions
28 January @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm
Leaders Training Day Sunday 28th January 2018
Invitation to all Leaders, assistant paddlesport leaders and helpers
We are writing to invite you to join us for our January training day based at the Dolphin Centre. This is an annual event and this year we have achieved our 30th running of the event. There is an expectation that all leaders attend as it fulfils a number of requirements eg leader training, DBS and continuous service. We also welcome all assistant leaders and helpers to come along and be part of the team
This year the Seneschal suggested we ask an outside provider to come in and run some sessions allowing us all to participate and have some fun. This we have done. The activities include some easy physical activity and a couple are outside, although under shelter. Please dress appropriately especially considering the possibility of colder weather. Most of the activities are new to us with the aim of providing an enjoyable experience working together but also remind us what it is like for our course participants when they sign up for a new experience on water or land.
For those new to the training day this is an ideal opportunity to meet and work together with other members of the Adventure Dolphin leadership team, share ideas and take part in vital training and tasks leading into the new season. We will also review the year so far and share what we have learned and look ahead to the new season. We will update you on the future of the building and our use. We will bring everyone up to date with the new qualifications.
Last January we introduced a new induction process which included four forms covering the roles and responsibilities of a coach/instructor/leader and included safeguarding, qualifications and risk management. We are now, in addition, ensuring that everyone is updated regarding their NGB membership, first aid and DBS (formerly CRB) check which is required every three years.
If you need your DBS application completed please bring your Passport / driving licence/ house hold utility bill or bank statement with your address on it or other relevant paperwork (Please see Ed’s separate email and the Adventure Dolphin website section relating to DBS checks as there is an online submission to do before the paperwork check)
Please also bring your NGB British canoeing/ MLTB membership cards and most recent first aid certificate.
