|Activity / Description of the Trip:||This is a coached session to give an introduction to paddling a sea kayak on the sea. The location chosen has weak tides (< 1 knot) & is sheltered so that waves are normally small. The details of what skills are coached will depend on the ability of the group, but may involve a short journey (<1 mile)|
|Type of Paddle:||Some paddling experience typically 12 evening sessions or more ( around 15 hours of paddling)|

All are British Canoeing updated coaches and have appropriate first aid, safety and rescue training and experience

|Transport details:||Participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements.
Please note that it is normally expected that particpants make their own way to and from the trip start and finish. For trips away from Pangbourne our trips usally start at the river or at an agreed meeting point en route. If you have difficulties arranging your own transport please contact the trip leader to see if a lift can be arranged.
However, we cannot guarantee that lifts are available.
It is expected that anyone receiving a lift will contribute to transport costs.
If anyone can offer a lift please contact the trip leader.
Please also note that for safeguarding reasons it is AD policy to have more than two people in a vehicle if someone is under 18 (unless a relative).
Pay & Display Car Park at the VenueI intend to run a sea kayak skills session in the afternoon, so boat transport & sharing may be possible with someone who plans to come for the skills session.
|Equipment needed:||AD membership
AD Medical and Consent form should be completed and handed to trip leader at the meeting point.
Participants under 18 must have form signed by parent or guardian.
No form, no paddle
suitable sea kayak with hatches or fixed buoyancy, if in doubt please contact leader.
Helmets to be carried for use if necessary
Clothing suitable for summer paddling conditions – this includes suitable footwear.
Spare clothing, food, drinks should be carried.
Personal medication to be carried and the leader informed. (Note – carrying a laminated list of medication and personal details is useful)
Leaders to carry usual safety equipment.
|Potential Cost :||There will be a charge of £5 for boat hire. Transport cost for private vehicles – fuel, parking. Shared costs if sharing transport.|
