River Dart Open Canoe Weekend

|Activity / Description of the Trip:||This is a two day trip Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st October.
We will paddle on the River Dart, probably the sections from the Dart Country Park to Buckfastleigh (known as “the lower Dart” ) and the following day Buckfastleigh to Totnes (known as the “lower, lower dart”).
We can camp at Breara Farm Campsite. Colston Road, Buckfastleigh. There will be an opportunity to make this a mini expedition, taking all of your camping equipment and food with you all the way. However, those wishing to find more comfortable accommodation, can just join the group for the paddling.
|Enviroment:||Grade 1-2 with flatter sections towards the end.|
|Type of Paddle:||Moving water with opportunity to use the weekend to gain experience in “expedition” paddling.|
|Pre-requisites :||This is for intermediate to experienced canoeists, who have either good three star skills with some moving water experience or completed four star training. If uncertain, contact the trip leader.|

|Plan B:||Going to the River Wye. Paddle from Glasbury to hay, Hay to Byecross or Byecross to Hereford.
Camping at Byecross farm.

|Finish Time :||1700 on Sunday|
|Transport details:||Participants are responsible for making their own transport arrangements. Please contact Claire if you need assistance or think that you can share transport with someone else.|
|Potential Cost :||Hire of canoe. Camping fees, food. Travel to location (possibly shared transport)|
|Equipment needed:||AD membership is needed. Boat licence or British Canoeing membership card.
Canoes can to be hired from AD at £5 per day. Please discuss which canoe you intend to hire with trip leader. Canoes must have buoyancy bags or blocks fitted.
Helmets. Camping equipment if “expeditioning”.
Clothing to be worn suitable for the likely weather conditions. Spare clothing, food, drinks should be carried. Personal medication to be carried and the trip leader informed.
Adventure Dolphin Medical and Consent form should be completed. If participant is under 18 then parental permission must be given and the form supplied to the trip leader.
Leaders to carry usual safety equipment.
