**Cancelled** Sea kayak skills session

|Activity / Description of the Trip:||This is a coaching session, the skills coached will be dependent on the skill & experience of the participants. We may paddle out to some small over falls if the group is sufficiently skilled & confident. The over falls are fairly small in area & swimmers would be washed into an area where rescues are straight forward.|

|Type of Paddle:||Some sea kayak experience is necessary.|
|Pre-requisites :||This would suit someone who would like to work towards the coastal paddler award|

All are British Canoeing updated coaches and have appropriate first aid, safety and rescue training and experience.

|Transport details:||Participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements.
Please note that it is normally expected that participants make their own way to and from the trip start and finish. For trips away from Pangbourne our trips usually start at the river or at an agreed meeting point en route. If you have difficulties arranging your own transport please contact the trip leader to see if a lift can be arranged.
However, we cannot guarantee that lifts are available.
It is expected that anyone receiving a lift will contribute to transport costs.
If anyone can offer a lift please contact the trip leader.
Please also note that for safeguarding reasons it is AD policy to have more than two people in a vehicle if someone is under 18 (unless a relative).
|Equipment needed:||AD membership
AD Medical and Consent form should be completed and handed to trip leader at the meeting point.
Participants under 18 must have form signed by parent or guardian.
No form, no paddle
suitable sea kayak. Needs to be fitted with hatches or fixed buoyancy. If hiring a boat please discuss suitability with trip leader.
Helmets to be carried for use if necessary
Clothing suitable for summer paddling conditions – this includes suitable footwear.
Spare clothing, food, drinks should be carried.
Personal medication to be carried and the leader informed. (Note – carrying a laminated list of medication and personal details is useful)
Throwline if you have one.
Leaders to carry usual safety equipment.
|Potential Cost :||There will be a charge of £5 for boat hire. Transport cost for private vehicles – fuel, parking. Shared costs if sharing transport.
I plan to run an introduction to sea kayaking in the morning, it may be possible to share a boat (and/or boat transport) with someone doing that session.
